Getting busy on set with Gentleman Jack

We can’t wait for Gentlemen Jack to hit our screens this May and for Suranne Jones to play one of the most formidable women of the 19th century: Anne Lister.

Working over in Halifax, close to the historic Shibden Hall, the Wainwright team recreated a mineshaft and stone steps as well as providing an innovative approach to screen modern buildings.
Company Director Richard explains, “The crew needed to hide some modern buildings which were non period specific to the drama, so we used large tree branches, strapped to posts inserted into the ground to create the effect of a row of young trees.
Whilst on set we also became a ‘one stop shop’ completing a number of other construction and landscaping jobs for the art department, including laying a stone tract and the devegetation of various areas to allow access for the cast and crew. It was great helping to bring this drama to life.
We can’t wait for Gentleman Jack to hit our screens, Anne Lister, what an incredible lady!”
