Last year Wainwrights were busy on set providing landscaping, greenery & prop services for Season 2 of the historical BBC drama Gentleman Jack. Set in the heart of Yorkshire, it stars Suranne Jones as landowner and Anne Lister, who is the 19th-century lesbian at the centre of the series.
Season two sees the marriage between Anne Lister and Ann Walker, and is based on the famous diaries of the real-life Anne, who wrote extensively about her lesbian love affairs, as well as her interests as a landlord and business owner.
Gentleman Jack has also led to a new series being produced which aired this year in May called “Gentleman Jack Changed My Life”. The series follows British women of all ages who’ve taken inspiration from Anne Lister, as they rediscover their sexuality, come out to themselves and their families, and rekindle long-lost love.
Wainwrights were the first to arrive at the Yorkshire location and started with lots of prep work to prepare the set. This involved cutting back trees and vegetation and creating tracks for production facilities with our own fleet of in-house machinery. The finishing touches on set included putting in greenery, lots of outdoor landscaping and adding props.
As always we are also often the last to leave. Aftercare is very important to us and we ensured that the location was reinstated back to how it was when we arrived!
